Here is a little bit about me!
My name is Emily, and I've been teaching for 7 years total. I'll be starting year 8 in just a few short weeks! My very first year I taught 4th grade, and have been in Kinder ever since. You can find out more about me by clicking the "About Me" tab at the top of my blog.
I cannot live without caffeine. It is usually in the form of coffee or soda - and if I had to choose one, I'd choose soda. My two faves are Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper! 9 times out of 10 a Mountain Dew bottle will be found on my teacher desk!
Like most teachers I have a thing for school supplies. I tend to
My favorite books to read to my students are the "If You Give...." series by Laura Numeroff. This was also a tough choice, because I love children's literature.

I follow so many teacher bloggers...it was hard to choose one. But if I have to, I would say my fave is Kindergarten Smorgasbord, by Greg Smedley. I have gotten so many great ideas from him and his blog posts! You can easily see Greg's passion for teaching Kindergarten...he has a spunk like no other!

Finally, the reason I love teaching Kindergarten......Kindergarten is a grade level like no other. The students enter Kindergarten at SOOOOO many different ability levels. By the end of Kinder, you see so much growth in EVERY. SINGLE. STUDENT.....no matter where they started. Seeing a child learn to read, is an experience like no other. It is ridiculously rewarding to see your hard work and dedication pay off! THAT is why I love Kinder....plus the kids are so stinking cute! :)
I am right with you on the caffeine!! I get a 44oz soda on my way to school and my kids love guessing what kind of soda I got (it never really changed haha) I loved getting to learn more about you and am so excited for our Kinder Tribe!!! Thanks for linking up with us!!
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for checking out my blog. I think caffeine is essential for Kinder teachers! How else would we be able to keep up with 5 year olds?? Haha!
DeleteEmily,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great introduction! I too enjoy the "If You Give A..." series. They are my husband's favorite! I loved your piece about seeing growth in EVERY child. That is the biggest blessing. I'm glad I found you through the tribe.

DeleteYou love the "If You Give..." series too! I was fortunate to take a class from Laura Numeroff several years ago. She told us that she just gets her ideas for books while driving in her car!
ReplyDeleteOh my! You are so lucky to have taken that class! I'm super jealous! I didn't know that about her - thanks for sharing! :)
DeleteLove all the Laura Numeroff books too! And I am a soda drinker too...no coffee for me! I look forward to reading more posts from you this next school year!
ReplyDeleteAbigail - I am a huge soda drinker..I should cut back! Ha! I do drink coffee too, but could stop if I had to! Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
DeleteDon't judge, but I have never tried Mountain Dew. Crazy I know- but I'm right there with you on Dr. Pepper. If it's not me drinking Big Red...it's definitely Dr. Pepper. :) I love the "If you give a" series!

Yee-Haw in Kindergarten
I love my pens too! I used to be a Mountain Dew addict when I was in high school but I stopped drinking caffeine in university for a bit and then never went back to Mountain Dew (I have my occasional pop but my pop of choice now is Coke ;)
